Bias, what bias?
Published June 28, 2005
When will the network media and other "mainstream" outlets finally stop pretending to be balanced?
Last week, for instance, the Big Three -- ABC, NBC and CBS -- had a wonderful time covering White House adviser Karl Rove's remarks at a conservative gathering in New York. As the Media Research Center reported, the day after Mr. Rove gave his talk, ABC's World News Tonight was on the story. CBS and NBC, both on their respective morning and evening shows, joined in a day later.
However, the same three networks didn't bother to mention Sen. Dick Durbin's Senate floor comments from June 14. It wasn't until Mr. Durbin apologized June 21 -- seven days later -- for equating American soldiers to Nazis and other barbaric regimes that ABC's and NBC's evening news programs first aired the original comments. CBS didn't do so until Friday, and then only on its morning program.
Major newspapers weren't much better. While The Washington Post gave front-page coverage to Mr. Rove's comments the day after he said them, it took three days to give an inside story to Mr. Durbin's. The New York Times, USA Today and the Los Angeles Times performed even worse.
The suppression of Mr. Durbin's remarks might come as a surprise since lately the media has been all too eager to publish every outlandish criticism of the American military. But the exception also proves the rule: His indefensible comparison strengthens the critics' point that the left's anti-military bias has reached absurd levels. To publish it would only undermine the media's contention that its own anti-militarism is balanced and refined.
Of course the media is not obligated to treat all scandalous comments equally. Coverage often depends on the reaction to the comments. By that standard,...

They were too busy looking for more fake, but accurate, documents.
Rummaging through the dumpsters at Kinko's,no doubt. ;)
The socialist-humanist-secularist agenda has always been to manipulate the vulnerable masses toward the godless left via media control and they have succeeded extremely well thus far.
The MSM also studiously avoided covering Howeird Dean's and Harry Reid's impolitic statements.
I hope it isn't buttered, or I'll have to use a pre-treater.
They can't change. Socialist/utopian ideals are systemic. It is part and parcel of their day to day lives. It is who they are and what they do. They will probably just fade away. None too soon for me.

Then they are doomed to extinction. And in their case, that's a good thing.
No but when the big four are considered.....
ABC, NBC, CBS, and FR the balance is close to reality. ; )
I'd prefer to see them "fade away" into a pale-pink mist!

Can't fathom a more deserved ending for the louts. Question is, why is FoxNews the only network to even attempt to fill the gap? Surely the fools at one of the networks has a modicum of business sense and can read the tea leaves, but they slog along as if, well, Churchill said it best:
"[People] occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing happened."

Werksferme!

The more the lamestram left media does to supress dem folly, the more shocking it will be when the GOP places adds.
"You probably never heard this, because the media is biased. But you already knew this. Please listen:"
When are they going to change this to 'the little three???
They're not going to clean up their own mess. They made it purposely, trying to sway public opinion to win elections. They are going to try and install Hillary and Bill back in our White House.
Our MSM is just slightly to the left of Mao Tse Tung and they're totally in bed with the democrat party.
The MSM is the way it is because they have to appeal to their base which resides in those cities. LA, NY, Chicago, DC are all liberal bastions so that the local papers and TV networks have to support them.
What we are witnessing is as more people move away from the cities, the circulation goes down as well as viewership. What really is needed is a national newspaper like USA today that supports either a more fair and balanced approach ala Fox news or a more conservative approach.
This seems to be the one piece that is missing from killing the MSM once and for all.
