I like to go fast like everyone else, but going fast also does one other thing... Waste gas... with oil over $60 a barrel not sure if this makes sense.

If people want to waste their gas, I see no reason for the nanny state to intervene and stop them.

"Waste gas... " is your *opinion*, not fact. My time is valuable, it's your opinion whether my time is worth my increased gasoline usage.

I like to go fast like everyone else, but going fast also does one other thing... Waste gas... I do not know what kind of car you have but most modern ones get their optimal fuel efficiency in the 70-75 MPH zone, and have for some time. The current class of 250-300HP engines will give you almost 30 MPG when cruising at 70 MPH, and about 25 MPG at 60 MPH. It is all in the gearing and torque bands.

Agree 110% with you. I cannot believe it. Remembering when 55 mph signs were going up everywhere. Remembering when automobiles were being sold for fuel economy alone in the mid-1970's. Don't people remember the OPEC trying to bankrupt America? And Jimmy Carter . . . ? Sheesh! Pardon me while I take a nap now. Must be getting old.

Ok, why not then take the back roads and go very slow so you can save gas and have a Feel Good experience that your saving the world.
Sort of like Babbling Boxer boycotting the oil companies for drilling in the Arctic.
