I think if he wins this he'll become only the third man to win it three times in a row, after Borg and Sampras.

Four if you count Fred Perry, who won it for Britain when dinosaurs roamed the planet.

Ah yes, the great Fred Perry:

****

"I didn't aspire to be a good sport; 'champion' was good enough for me."

" I was always a believer in stamping on my opponent if I got him down, at Wimbledon or anywhere else. I never wanted to give him the chance to get up. If I could have beaten him six-minus-one instead of six-love I would."

LOL.

Well the semifinal is over and Venus won. It was great tennis. I never saw Venus play so well. But, I hate to see that beautiful Maria fall out of the tournament. Looking at her is like looking at candy.

Maybe next year.

;-)

p.s. I really think she should try to learn to mix up the speed of her first serves. Venus loves the pace and that's all Maria gave her. If she would learn to mix up her game a little ....... a lob or a nice drop shot, or just an off-speed forehand or backhand, I think she'd be unbeatable. But she goes for the gusto all the time. Maybe she'll learn in time.
