The first episode I ever watched featured the joke about a guy who left his cat alone in a locked apartment until it starved to death.

Well, the cat lived and you have Cosmo Kramer to thank.

Elaine: Hold on kitty, dinner's coming.

Kramer: Yeah, that's a hall of famer.

Elaine: Alright, let's do it.

Kramer: Alright, here we go. Yeah, watch that baby slide...[Puts a slice of meat under the door.]

Elaine: Come on, come on kitty...[slice disappears] ooh...how about that; it worked! Wow, can I borrow that thing for a while?

Kramer: Oh no, I don't think so.

Elaine: Why not?

Kramer: Well, you're not checked at on it. Kramer: Well, where the meat goes? Elaine: Right there. Kramer: Where do you turn it on? Elaine: Right there. Kramer: But where does the meat go?

She may be talking about the Tonight Show episode where George tells Corbin Bernsen the story of how he forgot to feed a girlfriend's cat while she was out of town.

That's classic George. "It was an old cat. I'm not buying her a brand new cat."

One of the best examples of poking fun at all sides was the Poppy's restuarant episode. Elaine made a big issue out of Poppy's pro-life stance, and half the patrons supported Poppy and half supported Elaine's call to boycott. When Elained gushed about her perfect new boyfriend, Jerry asks about his stance on the issue, causing her to smear her lipstick and say lamely "He must be pro-choice, because he's so cute." Of course, he turns out to be staunchly pro-life.

Also, Elaine makes a comment one time about the anti-fur thing being overdone.

Yes, I know they fed the cat under the door. But the whole situation prompted a little vignette by Kramer in which a guy he knew left a cat to die in an apartment. He tells them about it early in the episode.

Look, I know they weren't trying to give the message that you should leave cats to die in abandoned apartments. But they told that little story like it was funny and I just didn't find it amusing. I guess I just don't have that kind of a sense of humor.
