All were single New Yorkers with checkered job histories, who seemed incapable of developing lasting and caring relationships with others, either in their careers or their romantic lives. While different on the margins, they all shared certain attributes around which much of the humor of the show pivoted.

Change New Yorkers to "ex-New Yorker" and you have yours truly. Its no wonder that I am a Seinfeld fan. :-)

Despite being a fire breathing right winger, I just could never identify with red state America. Putting Clemenza in a Megachurch is like putting Elton John in the SEALs.

I agree. it exposed liberal hypocrisy, even if the exposure was unintentional.

"George's father was Catholic. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus and Kramer once rented the K of C hall for some function (for Jewish couples I think). Kramer meanwhile specifically says he wasn't Jewish (more than once), but I don't recall him ever professing a belief. So George I think was a lapsed Catholic. Elaine was raised either Catholic or Luthern, but was a nonpracticing Christian in any case based on her interaction with Puddy."

Jerry was Jewish
Kramer not Jewish
The Costanzas...Italian.. remember Frank's cousin in Tuscany? Frank also sold Christian statues to the Koreans.. worked for the Rev Moon I think. That is where he met the Korean lady who owned the Nail Shop where Elaine was insulted in Korean.
Elaine was Catholic... crossed herself more than once
Puddy was born again.. had a Jesus fish on his car til Elaine stole it.
Yada Yada Yada

"When worlds collide"!

Ah yes! The theory of "the worlds"
Quite brilliant if you ask me.

That's right. Elaine did cross herself. She dragged Puddy to Father Curtis (I think) when Puddy said she was going to hell and the priest referred to them as an interfaith couple.
Boy I need to get a life! Ha!

The show may have been mean to dogs and cats, but it did warn the audience what can happen to you if you ride a tractor in your bathing suit. That has to count for something.

It's a lesson I certainly took to heart.

When Elaine rips into Georges girl wearing the fur coat, the girl shoots back.."Do you eat meat?"

Elaine: "I eat fish!"

Jerry:" Oh boy here we go!

The show is a creation of Larry David, not Seinfield. Sienfield was just a character on the show. .... and I would guess that Larry David is a liberal.

The characters were too self-absorbed to give a rat's behind about politics. But I did think that the episode with Giuliani and the yogurt was hilarious.

Funny you should mention the yogurt episode. That was the rerun on at 11:00 p.m. last night on FOX NY. Too bad the author of the article perpetuates the stereotype that conservatives take life too series and lack a sense of humor.

The show is based on Seinfeld's comedy. The whole part of the show where Jerry gets his sitcom and brings George along is kinda how it really happened. David said he barely was involved at first because he didn't know what he was doing and the director paid little attention to him. When they were signed on for 13 episodes, David went into "George" panic because he didn't think he could do the original 4 let alone 13.

Liberals have no sense of humor. I actually met a few who took offense to the term "soup Nazi." For the love of God.....

I think Estelle may have been Spanish. Remember the paella she cooked? Estelle's best line ever:

YOU'RE NOT GIVING AWAY OUR WATER-PIK!

Elaine was Catholic... crossed herself more than once

I remember her crossing herself at the Hindu wedding in India during the backwards episode.

In NY, there are many Jitalians. The Costanzas were but a lunatic example. I contend frank Costanza was Italian, and Mrs. costanza, Jewish. George, of course, was confused!
