My prediction is that the scumbag lawyers will be politically well-connected enough to set up a "settlement" with the state after a period of noise, threats, and media assistance. Campaign contributions to follow. That's the way it works - - corruption at its most basic level.
And why does it work? - - Take a gander at the jury pool, lol. Like the OJ jury, most of them couldn't spell "DNA" if you spotted them the 'D' and the 'A'. They don't pay taxes and so what do they care if "the landlord" has to shell out a few hundred grand? The jurors know they'll be invited to the happy party afterwards.
