Dick Harpootlian, Erwin's predecessor as state party chief, said such comments cause "great consternation" among S.C. Democrats, who are trying to remain competitive in one of the nation's most conservative states.

So much for principle.

With enough time, money and personal attention from the DNC, call it the Screech Outreach program, the Carolinas could both become swing states. Come on down!
