I will never forget the first time I heard the tape of Lyndon Johnson telling the Dem Senate Leader at the time, that "If we pass this Bill, the Negro's will be voting Democrat for the next 200 years" The Democrats knew what they were doing and it didn't matter to them who they hurt in the process, just as long as they stayed in power.
Wow. Can you provide a link to that speech, please?

I know it was about the Poverty bill he was pushing, I searched a few of the gazillion tapes C_Span has of Johnson's conversations and I couldn't find it. I heard it with my own two ears and that is what he said.
I'll search some more and get back to you!
