One of the last things I read from an X Gen compatriot was that the boomers should be humanly euthanized at age 70. This was followed by several beer burping "here here"'s. On this forum. So, my sympathy is waning. Been working since age 16, nearly 40 years, and was never given a choice as to SSI contributions. Have my own fund as well, and am sure this will eventually be worked out. BUT and it's a BIG BUT, I'm not going to tolerate this "boomers are ripping us off" crap. I owe none of them nothing. Period. Paid my way every inch of the way, raised my kid by myself, worked GOP precincts since I was of age (again years), and do not deserve that kind of treatment from young punk wannabe conservatives thrashing around looking for someone to blame for the failure of an antiquated system rather than working for/towards a solution to a problem that will eventually effect their spoiled rotten carcasses. /rant

Hey, I feel for ya.

I paid my first Social Security tax in 1969 and have been paying ever since.

However, we have not been paying "our way". All this time, every cent we paid went directly out the door to pay for retirees who were paying into a system that was started when there were ten workers for every retiree.

When FDR first came up with this Ponzi Scheme in the 1930's, even he admittted that some changes to the system would be necessary by the 1960's. However, no politicians ever had the guts to fix the mess.

When we retire, there will be two younger workers for everyone of us and they KNOW that, after they support us, there will be on their own as the system will sink.

Back in the 1970's and 1980's OUR generation should have been making a stink about Social Security but we never did. Our generation hoped that the Ponzi Scheme would at least hold up until we croaked in the 2030's.

As for me, I figured this out a long time ago and I have saved for my retirement with the assumption that there will be zero Social Security.

The boomers are ripping us off, and we won't stand for it.

That said....let us invest our money in private accounts instead, and the problem is solved.

I won't feel sorry for the boomers who thought SS would get them through.

Tough cookies.

Unfortunately, the boomers don't support our efforts to give us Gen-Yers some economic freedom.

So yes, you are ripping us off by trying to keep us on the govt. teet. And by the time you steal all the money from the SS system, we will be left with nothing.

Thanks.

Anyone that shows up 'uninvited' on my 70th birthday will be 'humanely euthanized' by Smith and Wesson, or perhaps Mossberg.
