No, I know it is true.

Your argument would be true if processing corn for ethanol only made the ethanol, and only the ethanol. That is not the case. The process of making the ethanol yields several products.

So, you think you have a bushel of corn, you make ethanol from it and you still have a bushel or corn? That's what "coproduct" means. And it's not what happens.
