The way I see it, it's part of a vicious cycle.
The electorate is generally so lazy, they either don't vote at all, or they only vote for the best image presented from TV or commercials.
That means that the politicians go to the big money people for campaign funds. The ones who contribute big money are the ones who will benefit from this new emminent domain decision. So, they're in this thing together.
The middle class homeowner is stuck on his own, his only chance is that he owns a property that no one else will want.
The city of Freeport, Texas stated right after the ruling that they would be going after two seafood companies on the Gulf of Mexico for developers to build a new $8MM pier.
"There's only one thing keeping me from that land, the rightful owners."
"There might be legal precedent! Of course, Landsnatching . . . land, land, Land, see Snatch. Ah, Hailie vs. United Sates. Hailie: 7, United States: nothing. You see, it can be done!"
Oh man, amazing. I'll probably spit instead of laugh at that part from now on.
Isn't that Hedy Lamarr?
IIRC, there was a taking a while ago where the decided that any house with fewer than two bathrooms was considered blighted. I guess they researched the houses in that neighborhood and found that all houses had fewer than two baths, so set the criteria so that all houses fit the definition of blighted.
That's Hedley.
1. The Media serves corporations, businesses and such.
2. The Elite Media sets the agenda of what the Mass Media is to feed us poor slobs.
3. The role of Mass Media is to amuse and distract us from the important issues of the time with whatever news the elite media gives them and with "entertainment".
4. With that, the Media builds a core audience and keeps those puppet strings in firm control. (Which is why those like Perky Katie Curic and Oprah earn such big bucks.)
And it works. Some I've heard on the radio this morning weren't even aware this was going on or that the SCOTUS had this on their pile to decide on. WAKE UP, AMERICA!!
(And yes, I expanded the explanations a bit - my own point of view of the whole d@mn thing.)
"Too many poor people"
BUMP
Of course! Most media IS a corporation.
2. The Elite Media sets the agenda of what the Mass Media is to feed us poor slobs.
Yep.
3. The role of Mass Media is to amuse and distract us from the important issues of the time with whatever news the elite media gives them and with "entertainment".
Well, it's all about ratings, and who wants to drive away viewers by making them sad or angry enough that they'll move from in front of their TV for a while?
4. With that, the Media builds a core audience and keeps those puppet strings in firm control. (Which is why those like Perky Katie Curic and Oprah earn such big bucks.)
This class sounds a lot better than the typical left-bent college course.
Ah, just like redefining "wet lands" which doesn't actually have to be wet. It just has to have some plants that normally grow near water to be found in the area in question.
This is getting more and more depressing by the minute. So besides taking back our Constitution and all our rights that are being systematically and incrementally taken away from us, we also have to take back the English language, its sematic rules, and the context anything is written in.
Except I don't think that the Media is doing all that on purpose. I think the media-fed dumbing down of America is a byproduct of the general laziness of the public.
In a way, that laziness or acceptance is a result of the successes of our earlier generations. They fought the hard battles so we wouldn't have to, but they don't realize that it's the fight that keeps us sharp.
So now we've been lulled into this big corporate way of doing things, convinced that it's good to have a mega-malls all over the place. Most of don't care how the shopping center gets there, we just assume it was done by fair means.
I actually live just a mile or so from this site in St Louis, and was actually looking forward to shopping there instead of having to go farther out to the county. However, I feel strongly that DESCO should obtain the property without resorting to government sponsored confiscation.
Yep. This instructor forces us to think critically. I haven't figured out where he is politically but I think it's safe to say he's not a liberal. I hope...maybe...we'll see. ;o)
Uh, anti-business diatribes are a staple of Leftists and of universities, and have been for decades. What's new about this one?
That true with some of the public who won't make an effort to learn, understand, or even care, as long as Big Brother takes care of them. However, the media takes advantage of those who, after a hard day's work, want to just stop and relax, not "think" during the few precious hours they can do so. The media encourages and enables those who are trying to get ahead and make ends meet into this laziness on their down-time.
Doc, the last time I did that, we got Bill Clinton.
Well, he MIGHT be a liberal, but he'd have to be one of those old-school ones who don't mix their politics with their educating.
And Ginsberg and Breyer.
