A deputy Tasered an intoxicated 13-year-old girl who was kicking and scratching two hospital nurses, officials said.
April Rene Burleson, who is 4-foot-9 and weighs 90 pounds, had a blood alcohol level of 0.175 percent and was under the influence of marijuana and the prescription drug Xanax, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
"You have to understand, she was lashing out, kicking and scratching," sheriff's spokeswoman Ileana LiMarzi. "She was acting like an adult who needed to be restrained. Just because she's 13 doesn't mean she can't harm somebody."
Burleson was charged with loitering, disorderly public intoxication, battery by a juvenile on health services personnel, battery on an officer and resisting an officer. She was sent to the Lee County Juvenile Assessment Center.
Burleson was walking on the street at 2:50 a.m. Thursday when a deputy picked her up on the loitering charge. She was first brought to her mother, who agreed to have the girl medically cleared at Lee Memorial Hospital before being processed.
According to sheriff's reports, Burleson had been combative with Deputy Chad Edwards before they reached the hospital, then screamed at the hospital staff and injured the nurses and Edwards.
Burleson was shocked with the Taser in the chest, then held in four-point restraints during her exam, deputies said.
No discipline is allowed while a cultural tradition is being followed. Pick one that allows a little girl to get S-faced and run around like that. There aren't any. Check out her family and make a decision later.

If you can't control a 90-lb (40kg) 13-year-old girl with your hands on her wrists and some stern, calm talk, then you are way too pussified to be a cop.
This spoiled brat probably got the first real lesson of her life. I bet she doesn't do this kind of thing again!
It used to be so simple. Scuffles were no big deal. Now with HIV and Hepatitis, Even a scratch or bite can be fatal in the long run. Add this to the fact that this "kid" was walking the streets at night, stoned out of her head, makes me think she would be considered high risk for disease. What should the officer do? Get sued for overpowering her by use of force while risking his own personal safety? I think the taser should be used instead of force. The problem with the puny tasers they have is that they are not always effective on drug freaks, like the Rodney King deal. They should have just juiced him up repeatedly until he was unconcious intead of hitting him.

Taser the little beeotch, I don't give a damn what her age is. And as another poster said, then drag the parent(s) in and taser their ass for good measure.
Had I been in that officer's position I would have fired that Taser without hesitation and I wouldn't lose one wink of sleep over it.

I'm suprised that the hospital didn't have security and psych staff on hand to restrain her. Most hospitals have personell who are trained to handle this sort of situation.
Neither Jeff Head nor Sun Tzu advocates child abuse on FR with an erroneously translated quote for a tagline.
Your tagline errs by inappropriate literalism: the general case was translated as an absolute "all war is..."
In point of fact, if your own army vastly outnumbers an poorly defended, weak foe, the best and easiest thing to do is to simply let the enemy see the truth of the hopelessness of fighting against you, and then show up prepard to fight. In this way, you will achieve victory at minimal cost.
Philosophically and ethically, which is how Master Sun is generally understood in modern times, the statement as you've quoted it generalizes to, "In every undertaking, one should lie and present a false front." This is stupidity! I'll leave it to you to concieve of a situation in which honesty is advantageous. If you can think of only one such situation, then you have shown the statement to be false, because of the implications of the word "all."
Since I have a translation(Thomas Cleary's) which renders Sun Tzu self-consistent, externally consistent and rational, and since your translations render his words erroneous, I do not find that I have a conflict with Master Sun, but with others' interpretations of his work. Since Jeff Head has done a great deal of work, and since I have never seen him claim absolute perfection, I think he probably erred here. But, as you've shown, this error is common to several translations, so I'd say it's a very small error in a large body of good work.

Oh yea...today's cops with tasers are a dangerous and malicious lot. They are using the taser like they wish they could use their guns...on pregnant moms, little boys and little girls like this one...any and all who refuse or don't seem in their view to be "properly" responding to their every command!
