If you don't want to travel with your cellular phone, or if you don't have a GSM cellular, you can rent a phone in Aruba. Contact Charles Croes at 730-0001 for any rental details.

Charlies Croes does not know the Twitty's - he has a friend that was helping the twitty's. This person called Charlies Croes because he owns a cell phone rental co on th island.

Repeat of Greta...

Charlies Croes: There was apparently a cell phone call made and he was calling me, betting or hoping that the phone call was made from one of our phones, so that is why he called me.

Greta: What time did he call you?

Charlies Croes: About 11:30 (I take it was 11:30 pm Monday night as Charlies Croes met up with the mystery person and the Twitty's after this conversation at a gas station in Aruba.)

Greta: What did he say to you?

Charlies Croes: He told me that he needed my help and I asked him what it was about and he told me that it had something to do with a cellphone and I didn't relate to it anything but work at that point and he said there is a possibility that a phone call was made using one of our phones and I said "ok" and he said it is very very important and I said fine and I asked him to go into further details and he did and I made arrangements to go see him.

Ok... the phone call discussion comes up again in the interview Croes is at the gas station with Beth Twitty. Greta asks Croes if the phone call discussion was brought up while talking to Beth at the gas station. Croes says yes... Greta says after you listen to the call several times and hung up with the person in the states, what did you do next.

After that we spoke for awhile then we left...

Just tossing out a few questions:

Who rented the Digicel GSM cell phone?

Could Natalee have rented a cell phone because she could configure her own phone? (There should be a contract.)

Did she place a call to her home and leave a message with the calling information?

Could a call have been placed near the vdS home and picked up by one of the 15 Digicel towers?

Is that why Beth is so certain that Natalee was at the vdS home at 3:15 am?

It may have been a call, but Beth would not have known from where the call was coming that soon.

I think it is more (Occam's Razor) likely that Natalee told one of her friends that she would be spending the night at Joran's. Maybe Joran told her not to tell anyone, but girls ALWAYS do (remember all Monica Lewinski's emails to her friends about polishing the President?). So when Beth became aware of the situation she may have asked to speak to that friend, or that friend may have finally told the chaperone because she believed her friend was in danger. Beth may have known the name of the person Natalee was supposed to be with before she got on her plane to Aruba.
