Keeping mine in the house where it is cooler. They hang in the bedroom, with the shades drawn.
We used to have dachsies! Ours were black and tan, and boy could they ever suck up the heat! Got to keep the dark shortcoats out of the sun!
Hi, J, you're right about the black and tan, and dark coats in general. My gang lounged in luxury while I toiled at work. Two fans and an AC in the bedroom. Talked to the breeder this am, and he said he was letting his three out early in the am, and that was it. Longhaired guys were panting like crazy, even with the fans and (creaky) AC. The shorthaired pup doesn't seem fazed, lucky boy. Here it is, 9:30, and it's still 76 degrees. We're expecting a couple more days of this heat before it cools off, and thunderstorms again tomorrow. Three people were hit yesterday in New England, nobody badly hurt, though, thank goodness.
