/begin my translation China: Egg-sized Hails Pound Shenyang |
Flood in Heilungjian Province, and now hail damage in Shenyang |
|
Following the flood in Heilungjian Province, this time, egg-sized hails pounded Shenyang, another in the recent string of unusual weather conditions in China. At 6:46pm on June 21, hailstorm started to the city of Shenyang, China, causing extensive damages.
House windows were broken, trees on the street fell down. There were over 200 reports of broken phone connection. The Weather Agency in Shenyang explained, "There is no time to issue warning. Hailstorm came so abruptly."
It went on to say, "Hot air near the ground and the cold air above met, causing the hailstorm."
Park Jung-ok reporting from China.

Northern China has a lot of things the Tornado Alley of U.S. heartland has, i.e., flash flood, hailstorm, killer heatwave, and frigid cold. Add abrupt change of temperature, by 40 deg Fahrenheit in a single day, eye-popping thunderstrom, and scary tornados, and it will be complete.

If they had just signed Kyoto, this wouldn't have happened.

If they had just signed Kyoto, this wouldn't have happened. Yeah! Didn't they watch that scientifically accurate movie The Day After Tomorrow? (Add sarcasm tag here as needed)

We may have hammered the photo link to death. Your posting seems fine, but the site is down. Maybe it will show up later in the day.

Whoa! There's the picture. How could that bike rider survive that kind of pounding?

Sounds like what regularly happens in Colorado.

An unidentified person takes photos using a cell phone after a thunderstorm with heavy rain and hail caused flooding Tuesday in Colorado Springs. Hail was about a foot deep in parts of the city.

Yikes, bikeriding in a hailstorm is not generally considered a good idea.

It kind of looks like a low-light, long exposure photograph. There may not have been that kind of a concentration of hail. Every hailstone, at different times, registers its image on the photograph. Over a length og time, it looks like many. I am only guessing, and it s very likely I am wrong.

It's China. They tend to take a lot more risk while driving a vehicle of any kind.:-)
