What has happened to private property rights? Individual rights are being steadily eroded in this country. If you have no property rights, what's left? You can't express your religious beliefs in public. You have to submit to strip searches to board an airplane. Your opportunities for employment are contingent upon whether or not you qualify as a member of a "protected class." Every day, more and more of this cr-p courtesy of some court.
Bush is trying to bring democracy to the Middle East. Maybe he should be spending more time trying to restore it here.
DL/Registration/Insurance checkpoints.
Just yesterday there was one near my house; my wife told me when she got home from town.
I called the County Sherrif, "What is the checkpoint for?" They answer, "What do you want to know for gossip purposes?"
Apparently, they don't have to answer to their employers anymore. Next they tell me to call the troopers. "We don't authorize these."
I call the troopers, "You need to call the county sherrif. WE don't authorize these."
Lots of finger pointing, no answers.
Not only that, but whether you are willing to submit to a background check and/or drug test.
Actually, I believe that is only for common carriers. If you are flying your own airplane, or one that you own a fractional share of such as NetJets, then I don't believe that you have to do anything more than present identification. Increasingly, you will find that the wealthier are eschewing common carriers and flying on such private services.
Could any freepers who are using such airplane fractional ownership services confirm or correct this? I haven't myself, and my information about their security procedures only comes from looking at NetJets web page on their security, so I could be way off base.

Actually, this is democracy in action which is precisely why we aren't a democracy. Democracy is just a step to socialism, then the move to fascism is pretty quick.
