IMO, Ted and his wife have talked about his affair, she has forgiven him, and he is now taking responsibility for a kid he only found out about in the late 1990's (the affair was in 1994). My guess is that Ted, who is basically a good guy, will visit the kid, take ownership of his responsibility, and that's that.

Most people have at least one incident (or more) in their lives that they are not particularly proud of. But what you do with your life after that is what is important. Ted and his wife and their 4 children appear to have a relatively happy marriage now, and I'll bet Ted doesn't screw around and hasn't now for years. So, give him a second chance, as most people would. I can't believe that all Freepers are saints, although some claim to be so. My experience is that those who claim sainthood often are covering up problems in their own lives. Sainthood is nice to aspire to, however most fall short, but there is redemption. Think Mary Magdalene.

Absolutely. Making a mistake, then admitting it and making amends, does not constitute hypocracy.
