I think they still survive in India's forests, although most have quit their ancient ways to integrate with mainstream society. Thse that still do are "protected" from "outside influences" by the federal government and state governments. All through the time, many of them collude with poachers. The Nagas are the ones who have changed most- from head-hunting cannibals to politicians, in a span of a hundred years!
