If someone wrote a book full of lies about me or Mrs. tractorman, I’d be jumping up and down screaming and hollering and kicking butt. On the other hand, if the accusations were true, I’d probably pooh-pooh the allegations as someone’s fantasy and trash the accuser.

I'd do what Bush did when the Kitty Kelly book was published--ignore it. Most folks are intelligent enough to see that unsourced, uncorroborated allegations are just that allegations. Remember Kitty Kelly alleged that Bush had a homosexual encounter while in college and he ignored it. Sure there will always be those who will believe anything simply because they read it but I don't think FReepers who always question sources and look for proof fall into that category.
