Let's put it this way - you check references and if they qualify to rent (have an income), have good credit, etc. you rent the house out without discrimination on the basis of race, sex, or religious affiliation.
Police said they know who they are looking for, but they won't release his name or a sketch because of fear of retaliation, News 5 reported.
"We need concrete information from the public making an identification," Officer Don Taylor said. "Once we do, we will try to get a picture and make a positive identification."
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 22 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a tattoo on his inner forearm.
It sounds like the authorities know his name and have a pretty detailed description of him. So, why are they asking for "concrete information" to make an identification?
From the description, the rapist appears and acts like a Hispanic gang member. Likely, others in the house were either in his gang or relatives. Thus, the "torch".
Expect more vigilante justice as the authorities let illegal immigration get further out of control. If the authorities don't obey the law, why should the people? Frankly, a lot of people in this country have simply had it up to "here"!
And while we're on the subject, why haven't the authorities rounded up and detained the other "Immigrants" in the house, who most assuredly are probably illegal aliens as well? Aren't the others breaking laws too?
What I was wanting to know, since I've never rented anything to anybody, if you even suspect that someone wanting to rent a property from you is an illegal alien, can you decide not to rent to them on that basis, or do you have to just because they qualify in other ways?

The problem would have been pretty obvious long before the little girl got raped. Had the turkey gone to the cops or done something in a timely manner, the little girl AND his house would be in better shape.

Even if you hold the owner of the house responsible for what his tenants do, surely you can't hold the owner of the house next door responsible for what the tenants of the first house do?
That's the problem with mob "justice" - it has a nasty way of spilling over onto people who are in no way connected with the crime.
As long as they pay their rent on time, their status in this country is irrelevant to me.

You misunderstood my response. I was referring to the neighbor.
Basic reality is that I've seen whole neighborhoods destroyed because nobody had the guts to stand up to greedy speculators who buy houses to rent to trash in hopes of becoming rich through owning real estate. Don't ask me to feel sorry for them OR for a next door neighbor who does not raise his voice early on.

If my daughter was raped it wouldn't make any difference to me what race the perp was. If I knew he was of a specific race, I would profile until I found him.

I suspect that the entire bunch that were living in the house in question were trouble, maybe even MS13, if that's the case ,yes, I would join the vigilantes. We have a law on the books that says we can't deport someone just because they happen to belong to a violent gang. Maybe vigilantism is the next logical step.
I WAS NOT there, but I have a guess as to how this whole "targeting Hispanics" claim got started.
Reporter talks to one of the vigilantes, and the vigilante says "yeah, we're gonna get those Mexicans." Operative word here is "those," not "Mexicans." In other words, my guess is that the vigilante meant that he wanted to retaliate against the person involved in the rape and his compadres, whom he characterizes as "those Mexicans," not necessarily "all Mexicans."
Reporter then changes "those Mexicans" to "all Hispanics" and you have the situation as presented.
I'd say the arithmetic strongly supports your statement. This article has had 2600 readers so far, 115 readers have replied, and of those replies, only three or four have been "outraged" that the citizens in this case are pursuing justice that the government has been unable to provide.
Just my guess, but it appears that the 2500 or so readers who haven't replied are not so "outraged" about the efforts of the vigilantes.
really? You'd punish people who were in no way connected with the crime because they happened to own property near the crime scene?
No offense, but that's insane. How on Earth can you hold a property owner responsible for the possible crimes of the tenants of his neighbor? How the hell is he supposed to know what goes on inside somebody else's private residence? A private residence that the mob is "pretty sure" where the criminal lived?
Say a crook robs a liquor store and kills the clerk. Are you going to beat up the shoe store owner next door in retaliation? That's just goofy, but that's what you're advocating.
This is why vigilante "justice" isn't. It cares not for actual guilt, only sating some bizarre bloodlust, and creates new victims along the way.

I've read MANY articles where renters had a nice little crack-house trade going.
The law not only shut them down, they ALSO 'confiscated' the houses.
If the law can do such things because of dopers, then SURELY the SAME can be done for those who are here ILLEGALLY and just DON'T give a rat's ass about American laws to BEGIN with.
NO, the landlord would NOT have known BEFOREHAND what 'one' of his tenants would do. But, I'm sure the color green blinded him to clues regarding the 'legitimacy' of his renters.
