Iranian students: Boycott the bogus elections, this regime is not reformable
Iran Press News ^ | 2005 Tuesday 21 June | IPN

Iran Press News: The University Student offices of Tahkeem'eh Vahdat has sent out a bulletin reiterating it's stance: "based on an all points boycott of this bogus election and the immovability and unreformability of the regime ruling over Iran; we consider this fake election to be disastrous, highly restrictive and utterly ineffective and the office of the president should be castigated for this pathetic show of force."

In several parts of this bulletin, the members of Tahkeem'eh Vahdat have referred to this as a filthy stain on Khatami's departing report card and went on to say that Khatami showed once again that he never had the will to defend and protect the most evident rights of the people of Iran to the ruling powermongers in the country.

They have also expressed grave concern over the widespread cheating in the bogus elections, faking numbers and stats, ballot stuffing and the general air of duplicity that surrounds the entire affair. They also mention that for months before the so-called election, the standard election number of eligible voters in the country was 48,500,000 but from two day prior to the event, two million people were disqualified from participating so that they can exhibit the most distorted possible combinations.

The office of Tahkeem'eh Vahdat also states while condemning, that the entire reason for Revolutionary Guard Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (who is a known assassin of the Mullahs and has killed many freedom-fighters outside Iran on orders of the Guardian Council and others) was brought in to the elections was to horrify and terrorize Iranians into forcing them into voting for Rafsanjani. They go on to say that terrorizing the people of the country into voting is far from any form of progress toward Democracy. The mistake made by the "reformists" in the primaries was also to scare people into voting against the hardliners.

This organization goes on to add that at least the civic courage of our people still remains in tact and not everything is caught up in the fray of the elections; it is imperative that people are not rendered defenseless and petrified against these powermongering despots.

I'll have to disagree on the boycotting issue and this is why.

a) The observors are all their own so if people boycott it won't matter b/c the regime can always spring a percentage of voters who voted.

b) In a boycott the likely candidates hurt are the ones looking to at least 'maintain' the current status quo as opposed to radicalize it

c) Journalists are only allowed limited access to polling stations in Iran so it won't matter if the people boycott it won't be reported as such.

It’s not too difficult to conclude that after 26 years I hope. It wasn’t difficult 26 years ago. It’s not even difficult to see how mullahs are forcing this vote between the butcher and the billionaire down the Iranians hatch today.
“This regime is not reformable”!!! Retard.

But, if everyone knows that the Great majority was in boycott, the position is declared. Democracy has occured, even if the self-supposed knowing claim not to have heard it.

BTW, I haven't heard that expression in a long time.

You know the problem with this boycott was that people don't really understand what they are doing. No one said this is a passive resistance. It is NON-VIOLENT, but there is nothing passive about it. So of course there will be regime reaction. That is what we should focus on. People should be agitating, and expecting - and desiring - the regime to react. By their very successful boycott of elections, the Iranians forced the regime to react by sending the militia and basij back out to the polls with their families, as they extended the voting hours so embarrassingly longs, to cast second and third votes. What does this create in the minds of the militia and basij, but illegitimacy and fraud and sleaze aspect of the regime even in the eyes of its most dedicated followers. This regime IS bankrupt and Iranians will prove it to everyone. They just can't then loose their nerves and become apprehensive by the reactions that should and would follow. Iranians MUST strengthen their lions and continue to agitate again and again until the ultimate success. Therefore the boycott MUST continue, and I hope that's what the people will come to realize.
