Not sure how to take this. I guess the GOP can just keep letting the Democrats obstruct, and obstruct, and obstruct again. Maybe after the 30th time they filibuster, the Democrats might be embarrassed, but I doubt it. You can't shame the shameless.

On the other hand, the only Liberals worship is power--politics is their religion. If they sense this vote is hurting them, they may have to re-think this.

Maybe he can get all his troops down on the floor for voting this time.

I am getting surveys from the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER'S SURVEY with a request for funds.

When these folks act like they are the majority, lead like a majority, develope a spine and a pair of gonads, I will reconsider my refusal to send money.

Why can't the plurality consilidate and get the people's business done?

All the Durbin etc. drama is ORCHESTRATED. If you notice, other than Howard Dean, ONE Democrat at a time acts out and becomes cannon fodder for the VRWC. Dean is a constant idiot while the other idiot-of-the-day is deliberately varied and not at risk of immediate electoral backlash. This is all smoke-and-mirrors and it is part of--yet helps to cloak--the bigger agenda--the fact that we're seriously getting bogged down with outrageous little wildfires like Boxer, then Durbin...then who knows next, but there will be more.

All the while, the Donk agenda of leaving only scorched earth and lost opportunity to the GOP is at the heart of ALL of it. They seek to drag their heels, focus Conservative venom on one DNC operative at a time, buy time, torpedo the GOP and Majority Will of the People by every weasel tactic they can conjure up. Meanwhile, certain COWARDS in the Senate including one from NY and one from AZ (and elsewhere) skulk quietly toward 2008.

Frist and Co. should INDEED press on with the GOP agenda regardless of these treasonous side issues and enemies within.

GRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr

Sounds like Dubya took Frist out behind the woodshed for a little Texas-style conversation.

IMHO, there needs to be more of this, leading to a vote on the constitutional option. Let's get it over with. Might as well, we're gonna need it for the SCOTUS battle.

Frist doesn't seem to understand the basic political job of a majority leader--to reward loyal supporters and punish troublemakers. You never would have caught Mike Mansfield or Lyndon Baines Johnson saying something like that. What a stupid remark!

Maybe Frist should refuse to "recess" the Senate until Bolton gets his "up-or-down" vote...

But about an hour later, after a meeting with President Bush, the Tennessee Republican did an about-face: He will continue pushing for a floor vote on the controversial nominee after all.

Yeah. Thanks for the laugh.

The ones laughing the loudest are the pubs and the dems. They want the same thing. They go about it differently.

Ever heard of "good cop/bad cop"?

We're being played, people, by both parties. I'll just sit back and watch...all the E-mails, phone calls and snail mail I could possibly do won't make a sh8t-bit of difference.

We're being played.

If the Dims want to filibuster, make it a real one. Bring in the cots and run the Senate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Make Dowd and Biden talk until they get laryngitis.
