It looks like the enemies of Lebanon are not happy with the results of the elections. Around 10 AM Beirut time, George Hawi, former Lebanese communist party General Secretary,
a National Leader who fought against the Syrian occupation was assassinated in West Beirut's Wata Elmusaitbeh district at the Cola Round About.
This happened in less than 3 weeks, since Samir Kassir the prominent anti Syrian Journalist of Alnahar newspaper was assassinated.Hawi's assassination was almost a photocopy of Samir Kassir's. He was killed by a booby trapped car that exploded as soon as he entered it and died instantly.
[. . .]
Farouq Dahrooj, the former communist party leader accused Syria as in the case of Samir Kassir. Again as in the past Syria will no doubt deny any involvement. We dont even have to wait and see.

Can this be true ? The enemies of liberation must be stopped.
Muslim politics at play again. No doubt they will blame the Israels for this. Why, I don't know. I don't think Israel wants Syria in it's backyard any longer.
Syria should stop meddling in the internal affairs of lebanon.....the elctions are ample proof that the people of lebanon want syrian involvement to end.
can we get a second source here ?
But this won't make world headline news, because an American at Gitmo didn't allegedly flush a Koran down a toilet. One more Muslim Lebanese leader gets killed by Syrian Muslims....and it won't matter over there.
When they announced Hariri's son (father also done for by the Syrians) was ahead in the polls on the 19th, I had the feeling he might be next. I don't doubt he's on the list of "must go" candidates too. The Syrian military may be gone, but their sharks are still swimming in the crowds...
True. Could be case of, bad vs. bad. Communist vs. Islamic Fundamentalist.
Still, doesn't mean he should be killed for it. After all, a true freedom fighter are targets as well by these crazed terrorist.
ty for the other source.
Chad I saw this story from another source on Google...its true.
Forces from every UN country need to occupy Damascus.
It's clear to me now that govrnment is neither willing nor able to reign in their terrorist killers.
Agreed, but the US has to finish the clean up in Iraq and possibly Iran first. Democracy will spread and I have hope for Lebanon (of all the arab countries). I have known some fine people from there who still keep postcards from the early 70s when it was simply gorgeous.
How will our American press handle this ?
