If your assessment is correct, and I think you made some good arguments, the most intriguing character in this case then, will be Mr. Paulus Van der Sloot.
Is he a teacher? a civil servant? a former prosecutor with no legal training? What is motivating him to want to be a Judge in this small island? Fixed trial outcomes?
If his 17 yr old son arrived home between 1:00 and 2:00 a.m. what was VDS Sr. doing at 3:00 am near McDonalds? Where was the son at 3:00 a.m.? What type of facilities are close to McDonalds? Were father and son together? What car were they driving? Who else was present?
Diabolical.
From SM:
-ARUBA RADIO IS ON A JAG AGAINST THE "ARROGANCE" OF THE TWITTYS AGAIN. SAY MR. TWITTY SHOULD BE QUESTIONED BY COPS FOR HIS HOSTILE ATTITUDE. REPORTING THAT NATALEE SIGNED IN HER AOL EMAIL ACCT ON 7 JUNE. THE TWITTYS HAVE STIRRED THE HIVE... WILL IT CONTRIBUTE TO THE SOLUTION OF THE CASE? I WISH YOU WOULD ALL LISTEN TO THIS DAILY RADIO BROADCAST
Well if there's "no crime" on this island, being a judge sounds like a pretty cushy scenario. That is reason enough, IMO.
Truly I don't know. But my "feeling" is that Paulus VDS is some sort of small fish, but has some knowledge of "things." You know, kinda like the cocky mafia member who isn't really influencial, but hangs out and does some cover ups and dirty work. Maybe he fled the Netherlands because of some difficulty there, (got caught up in something nasty) it got "hot" for him and he had friends who set him up in Aruba. Maybe they gave him some petty job with the appearance of decency. All the while, he remains "beholden" to them.
Now his kid has brought all this attention to the island...and Paulus is on the hot seat. He had to help his son (dispose of Natalee??)in order to maintain his position. The govt. really does not care what happened to Natalee - or truly now, even Joran VDS. They would rather it just all went away. But Natalee's mother, family, the US media, and Americans would not let it just go away. Now all the "players/takers" those who have been benefitting from crime are all in a panic for fear of what will be found, and who might be implicated in participating in the underworld activities of Aruba's elite.
I would think if I am even close with any of my assumptions, Paulus VDS is between the rock and hard place. He is probably shaking in his boots. He is a small fry in this -- who knows just enough and might, in order to save himself and his son say too much. Hence he might be considered quite expendable.
