Instead of throwing Wilbanks in prison, she is rewarded with book and movie deals.

Good point. Those that would cry wolf have made it so that trule missing person's cases get put on the back burner. By the time authorities are willing to acknowledge that its atrue missing person's case, the trail is cold and evidence gone.

I think you are out to lunch on the delay in reporting being an outgrowth of Wilbanks etc. The people say it is not unusal for this to happen. And it happens here. Once one is 18, you don't have to tell people if you go away overnight.

I think people miss planes, girls go spend the night with people and it has probably always happened.
