Geeesh, the speculation here is just getting ridiculous, IMO.

Every day we get these wildly unreliable "reports" -- e.g., the Dutch kid sas "anger management issues" (does that psychobabble make anybody else besides me cringe?) -- the Dutch kid confessed -- the Dutch kid is leading police to Natalee's body.

Well, those last two "reports" turned out to be dead wrong. Who knows if the first --or any other "reports" we hear-- are true?

And then there's the assumption out there that the three teens MUST have lied about dropping Natalee off at the hotel -- because security cameras didn't pick up on any such event.

Then we hear other "reports" that the cameras involved were not capable of picking up all possible activity in the hotel entrance area. But, NEVER MIND! --it's much more fun to ignore that "report" and stick with the "boys are lying" version of events.

I'll be honest: Like everybody else who clicks on this kind of thread, I'm curious and caught up in the intrigue.

And like practically everybody else, I thought this Joran van der Sloot was probably Aruba's version of Robert Chambers, the "yuppie murderer."

But now I'm not so sure. There's WAAAAAAAAAY too much misinformation and pure, uninformed speculation out there.

This subject as a news story has degenerated into irresponsible infotainment.

You know what we FReepers should be focusing our considerable energies on? Issues such as ELECTOMAGNETIC PULSE BOMBS (EMP) --launched by some rogue state such as North Korea-- potentially ending life as we know it in our beloved country.

Were that to happen --and EMP bomb technology is quite likely being developed in many rogue states-- there would be no more Free Republic! And even worse (though that may be hard for us FR addicts to admit), unless something is done to shield vital computer circuitry, we'll likely have mass chaos: No power, no water, no commerce, no food supply, and precious little transportation. Thousands if not millions of Americans could perish within a few weeks or months after an EMP attack.

Isn't that the kind of issues we FReepers (including me) should be talking about, and putting pressure on our government to deal with?

Not Natalee Holloway. There's very little we can do for her here. God bless her and her parents, and I pray that she's found alive, but it's really silly for us here to get so wrapped up in what amounts to wild, and purposeless, speculation.

And while we allow ourselves to be so distracted, the terror states of the world are plotting away.

I think you are on the wrong thread. Hit the back button. Hope that helps.

I too am worried about terror states setting off bombs in our country. What do you suggest I do about it? Do you have a plan of action or are you just going to fret about it? I'm all ears.

Freepers can chew gum and tap dance at the same time, so we manage to remain up to date on crucial issues like electro-magnetic pulse bombs and leaky borders, and still spare time for prayers and positive thoughts about Natalee and her family.
