None of this hype, None of this focus, None of this intensive coverage would have continued - IF the Arubian Govt/Police had not messed up their investigation and had co-operated and provided answers. Our "obsession" has little to do with news being slow, what color the girl is, or any of the reasons he gave.
He stated:
"...In what should have been a one or two day story where nothing new has been learned, except that the black men taken into custody initially have been released and no charges were conferred against them, the media is fixated on Natalee Holloway and Joran van der Sloot..."
He is right, it should have been a two day story - and if handled correctly by Arubian authorities it probably would have been!
