I read of a study a few years back that I thought was quite interesting. It seems that no matter what you think or do, the impulse in the brain fires from the same place every time. The impulse then travels to the area of the brain that handles that function.

Up to now the brain is still a black box problem and the two methods of analysis are Art and Scientific. The Art Method has too many variables to be resolved by experiment any time soon, and the Science Method is still waiting for powerful enough methods of process analysis to reduce the necessary number of experiments to something manageable. So, we have little but a few inspired mountaintop gurus to rely on for what little we know about it.
