Obviously he is a member in good standing in the medical community and well regarded in his specialty. The program mentioned the Nobel business, so that, too, passes muster among his colleagues.

A couple of points. Wasn't he sanctioned by the Florida Medical Board for false claims, and didn't he lose his license for a while? As for his nomination, wasn't that made by a member of Congress not qualified to make a nomination in medicine? That's a lot of baggage and with his involvement with the pro-life group and with his prior claims of Terri Schiavo's ability to recover, shouldn't we want another "less challenge-able" doctor to confirm his findings?

That's easy enough to check. Next time please check first before putting it out in public. If it's not true, it's libel and it could reflect badly on Free Republic.

As I noted in another post, he was not nominated for a Nobel prize through Nobel channels. He was recommended for one, or for a formal nomination if you wish to put it so. It doesn't make the slightest difference to me whether he was nominated or not. That's argumentum ad hominem and a waste of time.
