JOHANNESBURG, June 18 (Reuters) - A South African man choked to death minutes after killing his wife and eating part of her face following a domestic argument, police said on Saturday.
Police stormed into a house in rural KwaZulu-Natal near the border with Mozambique early on Friday after neighbours reported a disturbance, Captain Tienkie van Vuuren told Reuters. They found a 30-year-old woman who had been stabbed to death.
"Her husband was sitting naked on top of her," she said. "He had stabbed her and was eating the flesh from her face. The guy came at them with a knife. They sprayed him with pepper spray but it didn't have any effect."
After a struggle, officers handcuffed the man -- who was aged around 33 and had no history of mental illness -- but soon afterwards he choked, collapsed and died, she said.
The couple's two daughters witnessed both their mother's stabbing and their father's death and were receiving counselling, as were the police officers, she said.
"It looks like a domestic dispute between husband and wife," she said. "We do get a lot of domestic violence cases but not to the extent that it goes as far as cannibalism."
His wife was always tough on him.
"Hey honey, what's eating you?"
Couldn't help but notice you two joined within days of each other. Must be something about that freshman class.....
This is the part that bothers me.
"Domestic dispute?" I'll say.
May I be the first to nominate for Understatement of the Year
God is Just. (Sometimes breathtakingly so.)
"Honey, how many times have I told you to chew your food before you swallow it?" Mama's voice.
I'm sorry, I'll have to pass. I like human but human doesn't like me.
Streisand sings: "People, people who eat people. Are the luckiest people in the world." (Apparently not in this case though.)
Gee, what was your first clue?
Watch out, or we'll balance a bucket of water on top of your computer, so when you turn it on...SPLASH! :P
The ultimate irony is that the wife had known the Heimlich maneuver.
Love stories with sad endings leave me all choked up.
Silver Lining alert.
Feel sad for their children.
"After a struggle, officers handcuffed the man but soon afterwards he choked, collapsed and died, she said."
A likely story. Sounds like a cover for police brutality- Amensty International, where are you?
LMAO
She's not cheeky to him anymore.
I told him that his wife was no good for him, but did he listen to me? Noooooo!
Probably not the first time she wouldn't go down...
