Seems like the whole planet is shaking- is this normal seismic activity?
A new one in Japan. No tsunami warnings at this time.
Earthquake Ping List. Please send a Freepmail if you want to be added to or removed from this list.
it's going around the circle...
look for some reports of quakes down in Malaysia in a couple days....
It's normal in that the quakes are occurring in the normally expected areas. According to a California seismologist at Cal Tech, the only certain prediction is random occurrence.
We're behind in experiencing large earthquakes, at least in the United States, so hopefully this is Mother Nature catching up.
Ring of Fire Alert.
Malaysian quakes are already frequent. Perhaps there will be an increase.
How's it shakin' over there guys?
there is a very good chance I am afraid..
Let's get the 8.0 quake California is due over with, and move on for the next 150 years.
Looks like it.
Better, let's put it off for another thousand years. :D
Seems to be all around the Pacific Plate not just daily, almost hourly. Will Hawaii be drawn closer to the mainland or become a disputed island group?
Another one? Man, Pres. Bush sure has been busy lately.
The Geological Survey of Japan (GSJ), AIST started creating the 1:200,000 seamless digital geological map of Japan in 2001.
The map is based on the 1:200,000 geological quadrangle maps that have been published by GSJ since the 1950s. The seamless map from Hokkaido to Tokai and Kinki areas was completed in February 2005. It was created mainly according to the litho-stratigraphic framework of the Geological Map of Japan 1:1,000,000, 3rd Edition (GSJ, 1992).
The geology of the maps was updated by checking the latest geological data and adjusted the stratigraphic and structural discordance among the original maps using Geographic Information System (GIS) software.
Some detailed original information may have been lost during the seamless map generation.
However, the quality of some geological information like the rock type and location accuracy are much better compared to the Geological Map of Japan 1:1,000,000, 3rd Edition.
Check out the big picture......
Yellow is this week
Orange is this day Very interesting
ANOTHER ONE?
Californian had another one this morning!

I bet their hit counter will buzz after being posted on FR.
Yes...actually in terms of large (Magnitude 7+) quakes, however, activity in 2005 is well BELOW normal.
What you are seeing in this post is classic "Attention" effect; normally people wouldn't start a thread on every 6+ quake in the world, but they are because of the attention drawn by the California Quakes.
There's an average of 1 M6+ quake in the world every 2 to three days.
