Legalizing the illegals will clearly only encourage and invite much, much more of the same. No solution there, only exasperating an already serious problem.

The only answer is to have a workable set of legal imigration laws, and then enforce them. That means deporting the illegals and coming down on the people who employ them.

And, OBTW, I never said anything about "what you don't understand about illegals"...if I remember correctly in fact, in this discussion it was you that indicated to me that I did not understand illegal.

So? Since the new ones will also be legal, and you don't have anything against legal immigrants, where's the problem.

The "legal vs illegal" argument will never prevail with intelligent people. For example, in academic competitive debate, opposition to something on the basis that it is illegal is not allowed for the reason that laws can always be changed.
