I just found a link on operatio wiseguy and the Caruana/Cuntrera CN family, the ones in Aruba and guess what. Caruana, the big CN honcho, the one who bought up Aruba,,,he is the brother in law of Pablo Escobar!! He started out in Canada which is referred to as a lab for organized crime, and then went to Venezuela and Aruba.
suspects are safer in the pokey now. aruban authorities are probably being threatened hourly.

I thought from the beginning that somehow there was an entanglement with a large criminal element - either by "accident" or intentionally on the part of van der Sloot. I think it was more an accident, or some stupid ignorance of who/what he was dealing with. His actions, however serious (or trivial if he did nothing intentional) they might be in relation to Natalee's disappearance, might well be the rock that brings down the giant.
Think what drug running, mob traffic-ing and disappearing tourists would do to the economy there. The larger play in containing the stor(ies) and keeping the focus on JVDS.
There was a abig guy named Mansur on FNC last night. He is the one that reported that Sloot's father wouldn't allowed to see his son.
What I meant by "trivial" in my above comment is that VDS may just have innocently taken Natalee to a party for her last night with him. Bad people there might have forced her away, or drugged her, or something...and threatened VDS if he said anything. I am not excusing him, but the possibility of him getting into a pit of vipers unknowingly could exist. A cartel of drug operations or sex traffickers could have a very strong, frightening impact on a teen who just might have been a dumb kid in this situation. Just a thought. I am not exonerating anyone, only considering other possibilities.

In the beginning of this investigation, there was a policeman on who emphasized that the investigative police and the Ministry of Justice are not connected in any way. That the investigators were independent of the Justice Ministry of Aruba. I wondered why he was being so emphatic about this.
Anyway, I'm glad our FBI is in place there in Aruba to oversee certain aspects of this case, with all its tortuous pathways.
