CHICAGO -- Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says he won't apologize for comments comparing American interrogators at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis and Soviet gulags.
News of the Democrat's comparison created a buzz around the Internet today, fueled by sound bites of yesterday's Senate floor speech on radio talk shows. By this afternoon, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna asked Durbin to apologize.
Durbin says the Bush administration should apologize for abandoning the Geneva Conventions.
Human-rights activist groups and some lawmakers -- mostly Democrats -- want Bush to close the prison.
But administration officials say some of the people who have been detained at Guantanamo later return to fight against the United States.
Coulter's column is good on this.
It means that a majority of the voters of Illinois (both alive and not-so-alive) have a hard time breaking the habit of socialist patronage and big-city "Tammy Hall" corruption. JMHO
Not bad, not bad at all.
I have had about as much of this trash the troops talk as I can take...I have a nephew that will be heading to Iraq soon, and he and his buddies are "ready to go"---they have no doubts about their mission, BUT,
This crap of Durbin's gets on TV over there, and you watch, this will be echoed tomorrow during that sham of a hearing by Conyers...
This might sound trite and silly, but you know how the dems are always whining about how they thought President Bush was going to be a "uniter, not a divider"?
I keep thinking when they say that, about the saying "United we stand, divided we fall", and it just might happen if the dems and MSM keep it up---it they continue to denigrade the POTUS, CIC, AND MILITARY while we are at WAR, the expectations of the enemy has GOT to be getting more and more, that we will pull a "vietnam" type pullout...
But, this time, if we pullout, American will be destroyed from within, as well as from afar...
One has to wonder what political advantage people like Durbin and Dean are trying to gain? Do they really believe they are going to be able to build up anti-American sentiment as a way to win elections? One has to wonder if they really want the Democrat Party to recover, much like Clinton, they are doing more to destory the party than all their enemies combined. They still haven't learned from the last election, Michael Moore and all the left wing crazies sent the independents breaking for Bush. They are marginalizing themselves horribly and even if people don't necessarily support everything the President is doing it really isn't a choice when the choice is to vote for an increasingly Anti-American party.
Absolutely true! NO greater threat exists.
On the eve of a vote Kennedy recites arguably one of the most traitorous speeches ever given by a United states Senator.
Durbin apparently wishes to occupy the same stage by equating ours troops to nazi's.
hey Democrats, I QUESTION YOUR PATRIOTISM! What are you going to do about it? Call for terrorists to storm GITMO to 'rescue' their own from the barbarism committed by men and women of our country? I'm waiting for one of you to have the "guts" to start demanding they behead our own in retaliation for feeding them glazed chicken that was too dry!
McCain should be the one.
I don't know. I'm kind of partial to Inhofe too. he was the Senator that had the guts to challenge the Abu Grabib hysteria when just about everyone else was in hiding.
At least the "dick" part of his name fits.
POS Democrats are gonna cause the death of a lot of us someday!!
Wrong, little dickie believed every word he was saying, if he could he would dip his hands in the blood of our dead soldiers.
I posted this elsewhere, but I've tried to email this POS at his website, and the page where you can contact him was down. I hope he's getting ripped left and right.
I haven't read Ann Coulter's column yet, but that might be her best zinger ever. And painfully true.
Turbin Durbin. I like that.
no and no
