CHICAGO -- Illinois Senator Dick Durbin says he won't apologize for comments comparing American interrogators at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to Nazis and Soviet gulags.
News of the Democrat's comparison created a buzz around the Internet today, fueled by sound bites of yesterday's Senate floor speech on radio talk shows. By this afternoon, Illinois Republican Party Chairman Andy McKenna asked Durbin to apologize.
Durbin says the Bush administration should apologize for abandoning the Geneva Conventions.
Human-rights activist groups and some lawmakers -- mostly Democrats -- want Bush to close the prison.
But administration officials say some of the people who have been detained at Guantanamo later return to fight against the United States.

Merge our two replies together to "Turbin Durbin the Dork" and we may have something.

Heard it on Savage earlier too. A FReeper actually coined that nickname a while ago and Savage claimed credit for it tonight (sigh). Still like him, though.

Durbin should actually read the conventions. They apply to soldiers in uniform armed, organized, and deployed by a sovereign state.

Let him say it all he wants. It will just further prove to the normal American people who side the Dims are on.

Geneva conventions don't apply to those at Gitmo. Sorry. Try again!

Was Dick worried about the Geneva Convention, when some of our military were prisoners of war?

Has a Republican Senator called for his resignation, censure, or called him what he is, un-american?
Will any Republican denounce him on the floor, on TV, and who will denounce him on all the DNC Sunday morn shows. Is anyone fighting but our soldiers?
To: jdm
This can only help his ratings in IL and Cook County. The political situation in Daleystan is aweful, especially since RINO George Ryan destroyed the party.

for this story to get more traction outside just talk radio, somebody on our side is going to have to speak up.
To: jdm
Durbin needs to read the Geneva Conventions ... and then look at the status of the detainees ... he may just love the terrorists for their service to his party as objects for lies and mischaracterizations his party so loves to fabricate for their empowerment. Durbin is trash, but what worries me is how successful are the democrap party lies and mischaracterizations with what use to be thinking democrat voters!

He's a long time political hack here in Illinoisistan. He only ran for the senate when the other insider state offices were glommed onto by better connected dims. I sent him an email today asking that he "do the right thing and just resign"-no response or resignation yet??
And then these dimocratic azzholes have the guts to jump up and down today demanding that Bush apologize for saying that they-the dims- are obstructionists!
