Puh-leeze. The simple fact is that you do have the option to not have an abortion, not use drugs, and the like. However, you don't have the option to not pay your taxes if they're too high.

That's why fiscal conservatism needs to be in the driver's seat and social policy needs to sit politely in the back of the bus and not pester the driver.

I agree that if the gov't drastically reduced spending - 50% would be a good start - many problems would wither up and die.

But I don't see that happening, so both fronts need to be fought.
