The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an office within the U.S. Department of Transportation, just finished its annual campaign to get us to wear our seatbelts under a program called "Click It or Ticket." States receive federal subsidies to ticket drivers if they or their passengers are not buckled up.

I always find ticketing car drivers for not wearing seatbelts so laughingly ironic when (in PA at least) motorcyclists can ride without helmets.

These days, with the Dem party SO far off, we need every vote going to someone who could possibly win. it's a tough situation.

Each year, obesity claims the lives of 300,000 Americans and adds over $100 billion to health care costs. Should government enforce a 2,000-calorie intake limit per day? There's absolutely no dietary reason to add salt to our meals. Salt can lead to hypertension-induced heart attacks that kill thousands. Should government outlaw salt consumption? Sedentary lifestyles have been shown to lead to shorter and less healthy lives. Should there be government-mandated exercise programs?

Looks like Dr. Williams missed the little media storm recently where the CDC was forced to admit it had overstated the obesity stats a wee bit. (His followup questions are still good ones)

It is statisticly more likely that people killed in accidents are more likely not to be wearing a seatbelt. Natural selection (and I'm being partially sarcastic here) would bring seatbelt wearing compliance more efficiently than government. I also object to the advertising campaigns that are a further waste of tax dollars.

I agree that drivers shouldn't be forced to wear their seat belt..but what about children? I'm just curious how everyone feels about little one's? Should the Fed impose a law that says children must be strapped in?

Hell that isnt anything i was actually called a sniveling communist for opposeing expanding mandatory seatbelt use in indiana in post # 134 on this thread

Senate panel backs extending seat-belt requirements (more RINOs coming out of the woodwork)

So opposing expanding goverment powers and fighting for liberty and freedom is a communist ideal now and in other news up is down and black is actually white now.
