Let me see if I understand this correctly. You think that CA, which has some of the highest taxes in the country is undertaxing their citizens because they pay less in school property taxes than you do?

You do realize that property taxes aren't the only way that states tax people to pay for schools, don't you?

I suspect that California's biggest problem with funding their schools, is the requirement that they educate illegal aliens in their public schools.

The CA legislature may complain that they need to raise taxes to increase school funding, but they are unwilling to cut other spending to increase funding for the schools.

If increasing funding for schools were that important to them, they could find the money elsewhere in the budget. They are unwilling to do so. Bringing up the issue of schools is merely a political ploy that they think will play well with voters. They simply want to continue to increase spending, and raise taxes to cover it.
