I have to say that there is comfort in what happened tonight. All the systems worked the way they were supposed to...the automatic warning kicked in, there was no mass hysteria, but I am sure that if a tsunami really did hit, we would be as best prepared and forwarned as possible.
The Big One will only affect a portion of the fault, not the whole thing. The expectation is that it will hit the Southern end of the fault which is why I have earthquake insurance on my desert pad. If the Big One hits in that segment, it will be a total liquifaction loss - total - a teardown and rebuild.
