I would not really have much problem, so long as tactics and powers such as this were used on that sort of criminals and terrorists... the problem I have is we cannot say who may be labeled as criminals TOMORROW. For all you know, something you do everyday, may be labeled as criminal tomorrow.

But this isn't a problem that is specific to the Patriot Act. We don't get rid of the police or the FBI just because they might violate an innocent person's rights tomorrow, next week, or next year.

and in an "ex poste facto" manner. (as an after the fact illegality, when it WAS actually legal to do so at the time of the action.)
