Schiavo autopsy results to be released Wednesday
ABC Action News ^ | 6/14/05

LARGO - The long-awaited results from Terri Schiavo's autopsy will be released Wednesday morning, Pinellas County officials announced today.

The brain-damaged woman died at her Pinellas Park hospice on March 31, two weeks after the removal of her feeding tube. During the course of the legal battle, allegations surfaced that Michael Schiavo abused Terri. Those complaints had previously been dismissed in court, but the autopsy is expected to settle that question for good.

The autopsy is also expected to reveal what condition Terri was actually in when she died. Her parents insisted that she was minimally conscious, but most medical experts agreed that her apparent responses were involuntary movements.

The autopsy was performed by Dr. Jon Thogmartin, the Pinellas-Pasco medical examiner. He is expected to talk at the 11 a.m. press conference Wednesday.

>> IT IS WRONG TO MURDER PEOPLE IN THEIR SICK BEDS

Amen. It's also not very nice to try to murder them in the middle of the night for spending $80 on a haircut. How Terri was injured remains an issue!

It's intriguing that the autopsy report pretty well rules out collapse due to bulimia -- which was preposterous in the first place. Bulimia was Michael's alibi. He was the only person with Terri when she "collapsed." He is the only suspect if there was foul play.

It's about time he started to squirm.

As I've said, I don't believe she was completely blind.

I am not a Dr. either but she was either blind or she was not blind, if the report says she was blind, with no visual ability then that does not mean she could see a little. Someone needs to clarify how she could be blind according to this report yet was able to track balloons and was able to be given a diagnosis of PVS based on her lack of visual contact.

If she had 1% of brain left there was still life and murder is murder. Only when the brain is completely dead is someone dead. Brain damaged does not mean the life is worthless. Only God determines someone's fater, and He chose for Terri to live. Why? Not sure but I think there is a greater reason we will soon find out about here on earth. Pay close attn. He will show what lesson He plans to teach us about Terri.

I got the feeling that Terri had a crush on Gibbs. More reason to think she wasn't blind :-) :-)

I agreee. It is time for the authorities to take HINO in and interrogate the hell out of him. He needs to answer questions and face the truth!

I thought I explained. The ME made sort of a sweeping statement that she was blind because the visual area of her brain was gone. But there can be exceptions, and Terri apparently was one. She was visually impaired, badly, but not completely blind.

Show me where it says she was not completely blind.

Fun to think about. He's not a good liar.

But {sigh} you can't put him under a blinding light bulb in the back room of the police station, no lawyer present, and give him the Third Degree. You can't send him to Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and if you could, he'd be attended by the ACLU, Amnesty International, Mary Mapes and a team of crack grief counselors. The days of good, clean interrogatory fun are over / sarcasm.

He got away with the perfect murder. Michael will never be questioned.

You may be right, but for some strange reason I think he may not get away with it here on earth. One thing is for sure, he sure won't get away with it on judgement day!

Schiavo Autopsy Report a Disgrace and Charade says Christian Defense Coalition

WASHINGTON, June 16 - Christian Wire Service -- The Christian Defense Coalition condemns the Terri Schiavo autopsy report as a "disgrace" and "charade" for refusing to list the cause and manner of death.

Dr. Thogmartin's signed autopsy report states, "The manner of death will therefore be certified as undetermined."

It is absolutely certain that Terri died from marked dehydration caused by court order. The Christian Defense Coalition will work to see that Terri's death will be certified as dehydration.

The refusal to list the manner of death as dehydration clearly shows the report lacks any medical integrity and portrays a definite political bias.

Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, comments, "It is unconscionable for Dr. Thogmartin to certify the manner of Terri's death as 'undetermined.'

There is no doubt that Terri Schiavo died from dehydration. To leave that fact out is not only a betrayal of medical integrity but a attempted whitewash of the core issues surrounding the case. This autopsy report is an attempt to cover-up the real manner and cause of death. That is, the dehydration of a severely disabled woman by court order. The Christian Defense Coalition will work aggressively to honor the legacy of Terri Schiavo and ensure the true manner of death is certified in the autopsy report."

Ya know, this is so true. She died of dehydration, not undertermined. So, why would the ME say otherwise? Obvious bias there. KNew he had to say something other than deydration so as not to get Felos and HINO into trouble.

No, the dehydration definitely shrunk her brain. Every organ in Terri's body was shrunk, dehydrated and severely damaged in the dehydration/starvation.

For the autopsy, they had to soak Terri's brain in some chemical as they would anyone's brain that they had to look at and section, to make it firmer so that they can section the brain.

Not rehydrate her brain per se but this process is what they do to all brains they want to section.

Maybe Michael wanted her to suffer more and ordered no morphine?

Do you remember that Cindy Shook (Michael's x girlfriend) said in an interview that during a fight with Michael that he said he'd rather be laying with Terri in the nursing home/hospice than with her?

Roll that one around in your mind a bit and see what you come up with.

Hi FRiends,

I think that you are both forgetting that the autopsy was performed after 13 days of starvation/dehydration.

Terri was probably able to see about 18" away when she was alive before they started the process to kill her. Before the lack of moisture in her eyes caused alot of damage.

Dehydration causes alot of damage to organs and the ME had to report on the damage he found at the time of the autopsy. He can't really do a report via autopsy on what Terri's organs were like before the dehydration. He can guess, though.

According to the ME, Terri's brain was granulated or something like that. Severely dehydrated. There was no fluid in her brain at the time of autopsy.

Maybe I misread it. Let's both take another look. I'm not trying to mislead anybody.

Where are those folks who said she had no brain at all, or was brain dead, or had a black hole where her brain used to be, or had only a brain stem, no cortex, blah blah blah?

Probably having a stiff drink with those folks who put all their faith in Terri having bulimia.

Killing Terri All Over Again

By: Deacon Keith Fournier
© Third Millennium, LLC
Catholic Online

I was sickened by all the news reports concerning the autopsy of dear Terri Schiavo. I was repulsed by most of the “commentators” who attempted, in a smug and condescending manner, to try to use these results to not only justify but somehow commend her brutal murder. Terri was killed by dehydration with the full protection of the State, operating through a Judge who was committed to her death.

This autopsy changes nothing.

Let’s take a moment and strip away all the nonsense.

Terri’s autopsy appears to have revealed (make no mistake, more “experts” will soon come out of the woodwork) that she was a severely brain injured woman who may have had visual impairment. Further, that she died by the dehydration caused by the intentional denial of water. Apparently, that also added to the shrinkage of her brain.

This is now being used to attempt to now support the indefensible -- her husband’s denial of a cup of water to his thirsty wife to save her life. It is also being used in an attempt to vilify all those who tried to save Terri’s life.

Let’s be brutally and painfully honest, Terri was killed. She was dehydrated and starved intentionally because someone else, backed by the unrestrained power of a willing “Caesar” behind their nefarious decision, decided that she was too much of a burden. Those who truly loved her had offered to care for her and to pay for that care. They were denied the right.

So, Terri was killed. God help all brain injured, blind or severely disabled people.God help us all.

Terri Schiavo is dead. Last I looked, we honored the dead. However, she is now being dishonored. This disabled woman was intentionally deprived of food and water, with the force of the raw power of government holding the hands of the executioners. She was killed deliberately, by starvation and dehydration. No Court, Legislative body or Chief Executive had the courage to stop this killing. She was deprived of her substantive due process rights by every branch of government.

Now, she is being killed again on our television screens.

Terri was not dying. She was not receiving any "extraordinary medical treatment." She was being fed and given water, as many disabled people are at this very moment, with assistance. She had trouble swallowing because she was disabled by injury to her brain. She would have lived for many, many years, bringing great joy to her family and changing the world. But now she is dead; killed by the complete abject failure of a system that has lost its soul.

The Greek word for "witness" is "martyrion". In our use of the word over all these centuries of Christian history, we have emphasized those who shed their blood for the faith. However, there is also a tradition of "white martyrs", those who live sacrificial lives that change the world. That is what Terri did. None of us will forget her smile. We all adopted her beautiful family. We will continue to mourn her loss and share, at least a little, in their deep and lasting pain. We are still completely outraged at the sheer evil of this killing.

Terri Schiavo had her life taken away by the enforcers of those who want to build a New Rome. Remember, the old Rome also had an elaborate system of courts and a highly developed legislative system. It prided itself on its culture, its arts and its claims to "civilization." Yet, it legally sanctioned horrors such as the practice of exposure, where children, the disabled and other "unwanted" persons were left on rocks to die by exposure to the elements or to be killed by hostile passers by.

We now do the same.

That is what was done to Terri. She was killed by dehydration. Oh, I know, she was not left on a rock. Instead, she was starved and dehydrated in a room in a place that purported to be a health care facility, where she was also denied the presence of her family.

God help us all.

The killing of Terri Schindler will mark a turning point in American history. Terri was killed while "the law" was unwilling to intervene. Her death stripped away the veneer of civility painted on the face of the current culture of death. It was a diabolical event, plain and simple.

The rejection of the inherent value of every human life as a foundation of our whole understanding of ordered liberty is a clear and present danger. We face a serious risk to both life and liberty when reference to the truth is removed as the measuring stick for our behavior. Authentic freedom has been replaced by a counterfeit. The very foundation of decency is shaken.

To honor Terri, we who mourn her loss must dedicate ourselves to the long term work of building a new society, a culture of life and civilization of love, where the dignity of every human life is the polestar of all public policy; marriage and family will be protected as the first mediating institution and defended against those who aim to replace and eradicate them; where authentic freedom will be exercised in reference to truth and within a moral constitution, and our obligations in solidarity to one another, and most especially those who have no voice, will be upheld by elected and unelected public servants.

With all the talk of the "religious influence" in America, the killing of Terri Schiavo revealed the lack of a national soul. Terri was killed in a manner reminiscent of past evil regimes. I am reminded of the old adage attributed to the English Philosopher Alisdair Macintyre who, commenting on the decay in English society, once said "The Creed of the English is that there is no God but it is proper to pray to him once in a while." Without reference to the Source of unalienable rights, the One who placed the hunger for true justice within every human heart, we have become unmoored as a Nation.

Terrible injustices sometimes mark turning points in the political history of Nations. I pray that Terri’s death becomes such an event; an impetus for a new coalition for life, family, freedom and solidarity. If it does, Terri’s martyrdom will not have been in vain.

The results of this autopsy change nothing. In fact, their mis-use now, by some in the media who want to try to justify this evil act, simply have the effect of killing Terri all over again.

Just so, whether he stays ahead of the posse or not. Michael Schiavo is a marked man, doomed to live under a shadow. Terri will haunt his footsteps all of his days. He will always be remembered for putting her to death.
