New York ,NY (AHN) - A 9/11 widow has managed to spend the half of her $4.2 million dollar settlement from The Federal Victim Compensation Fund that she was given and $3 million that was given to her by friends and family, an ABC News report says.
Kathy Trant's husband, Dan,was working for Cantor Fitzgerald when the office he was working in was struck by terrorists on the morning of 9/11 in the World Trade Center.
Suffering bouts with depression, shopping addiction, and weight gain between 90 and 170 pounds,Trant said:
"I didn't know how to give back because so many people gave to me when I lost my husband,".
Between spending $1.5 million on tripling the size of her suburban New York home, adding a basketball court, a volleyball court,a hot tub, and a heated pool,Trent managed to spend $500,000 in shoes,$5,000 Gucci and Capelli gowns, and Fendi and Judith Leiber handbags, that also go for $5,000 per bag.
The spending did not stop there as Trant spent $70,000 to take six friends to the Super Bowl and another $30,000 for a trip for 20 friends and relatives to the Bahamas. Then add on another $15,000 for her housekeeper, who received the money to buy a home in El Salvador.
Trant is presently down to her last $500,000.00. Trant and a friend are opening a hair-removal and cosmetic tattoo shop in East Norwich, Conn.
Recognizing the shop-a-holic issue that she has had to face Trant is quoted as saying,"It's a problem people laugh at,when you have alcoholism or drug addiction, it's all a different story."
She plans to help others with the shopping addiction and hopes her children will learn from her mistakes when they receive $800,000 that was set aside for them when they turn 18.
"It's blood money that I don't want," Trant said. "I want my husband back."

Easy come, easy go.
That Bitch
$500,000 in shoes? SHOES????
Can this story be true? It'll make you think twice before donating money.
She sure didn't have any problems with it being blood money when she was spending it!

she sounds really broken up about the tragedy
Hard come, easy go.
Hey, it's not all bad. She can still double her shoe collection!
Nice to see that our tax dollars were well spent.
Except for the shoes, non of this is justified. I'd question the shoes too, but watching my wife tells me the shoe thing just can't be helped.
Wow, double victimhood. That's a shame.
Well, I for one feel her pain.
We'll just have to give her some more free money.
What if she pisses that away?
Why give her some more free money, of course.
I wonder how much she misses her husband? After all, she's been so busy shopping.
sad
Methinks she needs to invest that last $500,000 and sell the property. Without an income to pay for upkeep and expenses, it will drain her very quickly.
She could have safely invested $2,000,000 and lived a very comfortable life off of the interest alone for the rest of her life. Then she could have done whatever she wanted with the rest, like give to charity.
This reminds me of what my ex-girlfriend would do with that kind of money. especially the shoe and bag part.
what a despicable POS.
