Interestingly enough, the requirement to have only 9 states ratify the Constitution for it to come into effect may have been illegal. Under the Articles of Confederation, it states that any changes made had to be unanimous.

Under the Articles of Confederation, it states that any changes made had to be unanimous.No one ever claimed that adoption of the Constitution was consistent with the Articles of Confederation. That wasn't the point. We ditched the AofC, just as we ditched tbe British Crown.
