Liberia certainly rang some bells for Robert Lee. He paid passage for some of his former slave to settle there in the 1850's. Looks like both Lincoln and Lee believed in giving former slaves a chance to carve out the own future in Liberia, imagine that. Of course only Lee was in a position to actually provide the colonists.
