We will get over it when Northerners quite trying to extinguish Southern heritage, and not a minute before.

It will end when my ancestors are no longer called a racist army. They couldn't have cared less what race the slaves were. They were trying to stop domination by Northern interests.

You might want to get out and about in this coutry a little more. We've got "southernors" living in the north and "northernors" living in the south. We've got "easterners" living in the west and "westerners" living in the east. My ancestors were proud people. Some of them wore blue and some of them wore butternut. Some were people you'd want to have a beer with and others were just plain a..holes.

Total BS. The South revolted to defend slavery that was the ONLY reason. Slavery was the dominant force there and EVERYTHING had to support it. ANY opposition to slavery was driven out of the region. NO newspapers, magazines, books were allowed if they spoke against slavery.

Federal influence on the South was negligible particularly since Southerners had controlled the federal government for its entire existance. But Lincoln's opposition to slavery expansion was too much for the Slavers.

Unfortunately, the image in many Northerners minds is that the major component of Southern heritage is racism. People are not going to applaud that or secession. You have a big PR problem.

BTW, about three years ago I visited the Museum of the Confederacy and Confederate White House in Richmond. Even I, a Northerner, thought that it was disgraceful that the museum had sold off virtually all the surrounding land so that the buildings of a university hospital now loom over the site. It appears that some Southerners are extinguishing their own heritage.
