Dean calls for Dems to tout morals

Washington, DC, Jun. 12 (UPI) -- Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean told party leaders in Washington to try casting traditionally liberal issues in moral terms.

The former Vermont governor told the DNC executive committee meeting that putting issues such as education in moral terms is the key to Democrats winning back the White House, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

"We have not spoken about moral values in this party for a long time," Dean said. "The truth is, we're Democrats because of our moral values. It's a moral value to make sure that kids don't go to bed hungry at night. It is a moral value not to go out on golf trips paid for by lobbyists."

Dean described the party's national campaign apparatus as being "30 years behind" the one fielded by the Bush-Cheney campaign last year. He said the solution is for Democrats to be tough, describe themselves boldly and get organized in all 50 states.

"People want us to fight, and we are here to fight," Dean said during the quarterly meeting. "We are not going to lie down in front of the Republican machine anymore."

What Howard, and most dems haven't figured out is---the Republicans don't TALK about, or TOUT moral values...

They LIVE them...moral values are the things that one lives and how one makes choices in their lives...

Let me see if I can cast the Democrats' vision of America in moral terms. Let us consider, for example, a butcher who lives and works in an economically disadvantaged inner city. A fine American patriot, he and his wife attend the local Southern Baptist Church every week (Sundays and usually Wednesdays too). They have five children; the oldest is a Marine in Iraq, the youngest is in the fourth grade. In other words, we have [fairly] normal Americans.

The Democrats' agenda consists of high taxes, subsidized decadence, and international humiliation. The butcher manages to turn a profit, but he has a moral obligation to turn that profit to the government [rather than hiring more workers from the community, expanding his business, and selling more meat, ...]. The Government in turn gives the money not to the butcher's son for better equipment, compensation, and training for his mission to protect America--how immoral! Vanquish the thought!

Let the Government instead fulfill its moral obligation to give the money to some unemployed drug-addicted teenage dropout who has a child to an unknown father, such are her wonderful all-American morals. She uses the money not to feed, clothe, and care for her child, nor dare she do the vastly immoral activities like seek treatment for the drug addiction, get a job, nor go to school. She should do the just and moral thing--buy more drugs. So she gives the money to a drug lord [while her child suffers from malnourishment and lack of proper maternal care], who in turn--in a fit of rage against the immorally hard-working butcher, robs and pillages his store to demonstrate the great moral superiority of his way of life. He, by the way, thanks the great moral Democrats with his votes, who follow their morals by helping this downtrodden fellow remain unprosecuted to continue with his culture.

Our butcher now cannot pay his employees--having turned all his profits to the government--because he lacks the funds to fix his shop, so he downsizes severely and eventually goes out of business. His ex-employees, unable to get jobs [because the drug-criminals did the same to all the other employers], turn to the greatly moralistic criminal gangs [allied with Democrats of course] and begin to rob other Republicans.
