The prosecutors in Michael Jackson's child molestation and conspiracy trial apparently feel they've already won their case.
On Wednesday night, the whole lot of them DA Tom Sneddon, Ron Zonen, Gordon Auchincloss, their wives and families all celebrated at the Hitching Post restaurant in Casmalia.
The Hitching Post, cousin of the Buellton restaurant featured in the movie "Sideways," is considered the best restaurant in the greater Santa Maria area.
Sneddon was so happy that he actually embraced celebrity crime reporter Aphrodite Jones. She told me he was in a jubilant mood, and the most outgoing of all the people on hand.
Said one observer, "This group was happy. There was definitely a celebratory mood."
The prosecutor's team was first spotted making merry at the bar, and then retreated to a private dining room behind the bar that has no door.
In other Jacko auto news: the $400,000 Mercedes Pullman limo I told you the singer bought in 2003 still has no license plates.
Nevertheless, this was the car that Jackson had the Rev. Jesse Jackson chauffeured around in this week. The civil rights leader probably had no idea he was riding in an unlicensed, uninsured, unregistered automobile.

Interesting, how to they get in or out?
Or is it the bar that has no door?
or is it Katy bar the door?
Maybe they're just celebrating because the beastly thing is over. I'm sure all the weirdos at the cable news channels are bummed, though.
d.o.l.
Criminal Number 18F
LOL - good catch on the door. Or the no door.
>>retreated to a private dining room behind the bar that has no door.
>>Interesting, how to they get in or out?
Same way the air gets in and out when Michael isn't mouth breathing.
(They didn't say no portal, no doorway. Just no door.)
They were just celebrating that the trial is over.
NOBODY in the prosecutors office celebrates a conviction until the jury comes back.
But .. of course .. the media wants to be able to have a GOTCHA in case Michael doesn't get a full conviction.
They were celebrating something else. Leave it to the media to distort the facts!
There will be a big winner in the Jackson trial, no matter what the verdict is. Guilty, Not Guilty, or Hung Jury, Jesse Jackson will make himself the star of the moment.
" Tom Sneddon, Ron Zonen, Gordon Auchincloss "
Ever notice that the majority of professional people ( doctors , lawyers , etc...) don't have your average surnames ?
Aphrodite? Is that the greek love goddess or is it the description of a worm that makes love to itself? Who in the hell would use the name Aphrodite? Oh, hollyrottenwood, never mind.
Perhaps the contents of the jury note that was sealed by the judge gave them a glimpse of what the jury is considering. They may have a good idea where things are going. Though as a former prosecutor, I imagine they are just glad it is over. I know after lengthy jury trials, I often took my assistants, investigators, etc. out for dinner to just celebrate the end of the daily grind of the trial.
As to the note .. Greta mentioned something about it being in regard to a technical question - meaning the jury was asking about something they could or could not do - and the question was not related to the actual trial itself.
I agree the dinner was just a celebration of the trial being over.
Santa Barbara County fiscal year is ending (6-30) so our public servants may just be "spending it before losing it."
Sounds like Jacko broke out case of "Jesus Juice" maybe Jesse will spend the night in MJ's room.
I can hear Jesse now... (music in the background, milk and cookies, a fire in the Fireplace, it's all very lovely), and of course, Jesse Grunting "If it don't fit they must aquit"
What a hound that Jesse is...
That was bizarre.
