Got to be her fault, she should have known death was just around the corner, just by getting in a CAR

Chuck54, here are the facts, and they apply anywhere, but perhaps especially in a foreign country. Women should not be getting into cars with strangers, even one stranger, but especially THREE strangers. No one is saying it's "her fault", yet had she exhibited a modicum of common sense, she might yet be alive today. This is why people are saying these things: they hope upon hope that people take these lessons to heart, and maybe some lives will be saved in the process.

Slamming people who say these things does not help. Rather, it gives the appearance of suggesting that no one has any responsibility whatever for their own safety. That would be a horrid mistake. Even 17- or 18-year old graduates should take responsibility for their personal safety. Period.
