In other words, DO NOT BLAME THE VICTIM

I agree - don't blame the victim.

However, those of you with teens - sit them down and talk about this story. Tell them that growing up too fast may be dangerous. There is a reason parents are (or at least should be) protective. Bad stuff happens out there. Be vigilante, be careful.

We talk till we're blue in the face. They think nothing bad will happen or they'll be able to deal with it.

Most of us are incapable of understanding evil.

Kids are stolen while delivering newspapers, going to the mall, coming out of work, taking a walk in their own neighborhoods.....other than never ever letting your child out of your sight, we cannot deliver them from evil.
