<< I rarely got out the question before my dad was saying "NO!" >>

Before I was four I had already quit wasting my breath and my Dad's time.

And even when I was in the Airforce and had already been to [A] war, [Of sorts] my Dad still wanted to know where I was going and what time I would be back.

His house -- his rules!

My business is at a tourist location and we see a lot of school groups. Some of the adults in charge look like they need supervision themselves.

One day some kids were jumping on and off the sidewalk onto a busy road. One adult said to the other "Shouldn't we stop them?" The other replied "Nah...it's a kid thing"

Fortunately all the kids survived the trip.

I also heard that the Dutch kid had been gambling also in the bars. Do they not have legal age limits on this stuff?

In Aruba one is legal to
drink, gamble, whatever
at age 18. Same in
Australia.

Back in 1990 when I was 20 I went to Jamaica with a bunch of friends. I was pretty drunk at a Ragae Concert and ended up taking off with some local guy. He took me inland and I ended up seeing a lot of crazy stuff most tourists never see. I also made the mistake of not telling any of my friends that I was going which had them worried and stressed out that I disappeared till morning. Ever since whenever I think about that night I Think that I was NUTS and am pretty lucky to be alive.

He broke the law, being he is 17. The legal age for drinking gambling is 18.

Gee, his dad is big mucky-muk, maybe that is why?

I imagine in a place where teenagers are allowed to drink and gamble they look the other way when a connected kid wants to imbibe.

I went to Italy for my HS graduation at age 17 with the Italian Club. It was wonderful. There is no way I'd let my kids go to Aruba.

Not that Italy is safe, and Aruba isn't, but the type of trip is totally different. In Italy we went on tours, saw churches, museums, and the Amalfi Drive. Rome, Sicily, Naples, the Vatican, Sorrento, etc in 11 days. Never did we go out at night. No bars, etc - the rules were, no where without the chaparones at night. And we were in by 10, no matter what.

And we had to let them know where we went during the day - and every inch of time was filled with tours and that left only lunch. At the very end we found one afternoon - with permission- to go and visit family.

What do people go to Aruba for? Sun and fun? Excuse me, that's a worker's vacation. For someone older like a nurse or letter carrier who works their physical tail off and needs a break just sitting on the beach and stuffing their face. For kids, its just trouble.

Please, let's remember: It may have been a bad decision for this girl to go on vacation sans adults, but if Natalee is dead, she's not dead because she went on vacation, or because her parents are divorced.

If Natalee is dead, it's because some freaking animal killed her, and has probably gotten away with horrible behavior for years, and no one put a lid on it. I went to a prison a while ago to interview a man who, at the age of 11, was terrorizing and molesting girls his age. I grew up with him. He and a friend raped and murdered a woman when they were all about 21-22 years of age. His thinking on this was, he had picked her up in a bar, and she should have known better, it wasn't his fault.

Please--let's go back to blaming the criminals. Please.

"she's not dead because she went on vacation, or because her parents are divorced."

Nobody is saying it's the victims fault. What some of us are saying however is that there are time-tested ways to avoid things like this, and if we can't point them out on FR, we can't point them out anywhere.

"I hope someone threw a couple of desks around during the interrogation."

Heaven forbid that they placed panties on their heads and led them around on a leash. So, very mean.

"I can't imagine any sane parents letting an attractive young woman with no sense of the real world travel to these dangerous places of bizarre culture and minimal moral law."

This "dangerous place of bizarre culture and minimal moral law" is MUCH safer than most if not all college towns. What sane parent would let there kid go to a town where there was a murder within the past year? What sane parent would let their child go to a place where it's possible for people under 21 to drink? If a parent doesn't think those things go on in EVERY town in the US they aren't sane. This was an unfortunate isolated incident. Some of the self-righteous comments on these threads are almost unbearable.

Well Joran is 17 the other two are 18 and 21. The 17 year old's father was a soon to be judge in Aruba. Maybe they kept quiet out of fear until they were arrested just a couple days ago.

It makes me wonder if Joran wanted her to go farther than she wanted and he wanted her to do something in front of the 2 older boys and she refused. They say that Joran had been in anger management classes for a problem he had before. Maybe she got sick on him in the back seat and he lost his cool because it made him look like a fool in front of his 2 buds.

It sounds to me that the 2 older boys are the ones talking and that they are witnesses to what Joran did. Like I said they may have told Joran your on your own and they left on foot. So they might not know where Joran disposed of her body, but they know where she was killed since they were witnesses to it. Joran may have went to this 6th person's home (the one that was arrested this morning) seeking help in getting rid of her body.

Update.

At the moment:

The three suspects arrested last Thursday mourning has been brought in front of Jugde of Instruction to see if their detention is legal.
If it is, they'll be detained for another eight days.
If they don't have valid evidence for being detained, they'll be liberated from police custody.

We are still awaiting the news on the extention(another eight) of encarceration for the three suspects detained Thursday morning.

Local radio anounced that Natalee Holloway is in fact dead.
Out of their own conducted investigation they are confirming her death.
Seeing they are usually right. I give them the benefit of the doubt.
(this news is not official and not confirmed)

On another note:It is confirmed by the lawyer Noraima Peters, that Joran van der Sloot(primary suspect of the three suspects detained) might/has confessed something big.(what? the lawyer doesn't know)
But with this she is confident her client, Nick (Mickey) John could be set free from costudy.
She is requesting her client, Mr.John's liberation, today!

Natalee Holloway: Update 3:20 PM EST
Lawyers Lejuez and Pieters, retained by the two security guards first arrested in the Natalee Holloway, case are emphasizing the fact that hotel security has confirmed that there is no indication Natalee Holloway returned to her hotel the night of her disappearance and they are demanding the release of their clients.

This report suggests the case will end with the two security guards set free as authorities pursue a case against the other three suspects.

That's what I said last night when they first reported that one of the 3 was talking and had said that she was dead. My gut tells me that's how this will end, but it stills hits like a ton of bricks.

I'm to the point that I wish all the media would just shut up until they know EXACTLY what the truth is.

"The 2 brothers may have freaked out and left the scene on foot, leaving Joran with Natalee's body after Joran killed her in the back seat of the car."

Nope, I don't think so.

I believe because the pimp scum trio originally said to the police that they dropped her off at the hotel in the early AM, your scenario doesn't compute. Just IMO.

Wait til 10 EST, Jeraldo Rivers will start at the BEGINNING and bore anyone that can stand to listen with all the details as if he just discovered them all by himself. I believe she is buried.

And to those of you that can't find on Fox site some of the comments in this thread it is because people were reporting what was said on TV as it went down.

Fox or other media aren't going to put on their website things that they reported that are not substantiated.

But they know where the body is, and are probably on their way to it now with the Father.
